Amador Cisneros Jr, Dogs In Sports • When AAPBA President John Booker first announced the idea of inviting any and all dog sporters from across the country to gather for one day of super pulling while at the same time reinforcing the fact who is the best trainer and what dog holds the Americas Strongest Dog title I knew this was the beginning of something super. The announcement was made at the Northwest All Breed Dog Club meeting in September 2007 with great applause and excitement. The only downfall was it only gave the Super Pull 1 ½ months of buildup and promotion. When challenging all pullers from across America you need a lot more time than that but that didn’t give NW pullers an excuse. And the best of all the best from the Pacific Northwest did take up the strongest weight pull challenge in America and were indeed present at the AAPBA SUPERPULL on November 17, 2007 in Castle Rock, Wa at the AAPBA Dog Show Grounds. It was clearly evident on that day what dogs were qualified and up to premier standards for super weight pulling as well as clarifying who are the Northwest’s legitimate pullers at the nations biggest stage for dog sporters, the AAPBA and Weight Pull Sports: Super Pull. |

America's Strongest Dog At then end of the day when the last dog completed it’s pull, one dog stood at the top showing the crowd that the Super Pull was his. Hegberg’s Duke, a 4-year-old 85 lb. brindle male dog and a Certified Weight Pull Champion handled by 16-year-old Ashley Hegberg was the top winner. Duke is an extremely powerful and strong dog that wowed the audience with his ability and style taking both the Most Weight Pulled and Pound for Pound trophies and “Americas Strongest Dog” titles. |
Strength And Honor Award |
But things didn’t end there as the Super Pull officials found it fitting to recognize a dog that they felt displayed a tremendous amount of spirit, drive and strength. They looked at the remaining dogs and picked a dog that showed a lot of promise in the pulling sport. Samson Lee Barton a first time puller and 3-year-old 65 lb. brindle male handled by Richard Barton showed the officials and crowd he has found another element he is comfortable in thus awarded the “Strength and Honor” trophy. The competition was intense with a very positive atmosphere. The right people were there with the right dogs and a good time was had by all. The All American Premier Breeds Administration with the continued desire to succeed has always been comfortable leading the pack with ideas like the Super Pull an event headed to be put on the nationwide radar and a definite future breeding ground for dog superstars.
